Happy National Nurses Week!

Happy National Nurses Week!

(May 6, 2020, to May 12, 2020)

In the past few months, Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants have been compared to superheroes more than ever. They work tirelessly to deliver high-quality care to patients in need. Even with the adversities they face (not having enough N95 masks, overcrowding, and dealing with such a deadly virus) they bravely risk their lives every day to save ours. This year’s National Nurses Week is so important because of all the extra trials and tribulations they’ve all had to face in these unprecedented times.

Global Service Resources employs many Nursing Front Liners across the country. Celebrating them is in our DNA. Although we, unfortunately, couldn’t visit them this year, due to the high risk in their departments, we sent them self-care packages to show how much we appreciate all their hard work.

I recently interviewed a Registered Nurse named, Eddy Leon and asked him a few questions to shed a light on his life as a front liner.

Why did you choose this career?

I chose this career because I really wanted to help people. It makes me feel like I can contribute to society a little bit.

What is it like working on the COVID Unit at your hospital?

It has been one of the hardest experiences in my life. It’s heartbreaking to see the patients really struggling with it. On the other side, I feel such relief and joy when we save someone. It’s an emotional rollercoaster. I have to keep my distance from my family when I get home just in case I have it asymptomatically. It’s tough.

Would you recommend this career to others?

Yes. Although it is challenging at times, I wouldn’t trade my career for anything in the world. Working with doctors and other nurses to help save lives is probably the most rewarding thing I will do in my life.

Do you have any advice for other nurses?

It’s okay to feel overwhelmed. We are after all, human too.

Thank you so much, Nurses! We appreciate you all so much!
